The Approach

At Sona Studio, we design spaces for you to live, work and play in.

The process of creating a space, no matter how big or small, is a complex one. From a sketch, to developing an idea, planning, construction and finally, the completion of a beautiful building or interior, is quite a journey. Our aim is to help our clients through these unfamiliar territories, taking the opportunity with each project to maximise its singularity while crafting and considering in detail each and every design aspect.

Sustainable design is a key intention in our design practice, with a focus on minimal environmental impact and maximum human comfort. Not only is it our goal to create beautiful, liveable spaces, we also strive to build new environments while pursuing timeless, uncomplicated architecture.

Sona Studio is a practice founded in 2015 by Janson Sadler, with offices in Sydney. We provide design services for commercial, hospitality and residential projects - new builds, alterations and additions, renovations and interior design.

Janson Sadler

It was almost inevitable that Sona Studio’s founding director Janson Sadler would find her calling in architecture. Born in Italy, Janson is the daughter of renowned industrial designer Marc Sadler, who during his career partnered with leading Italian design brands including the likes of Boffi, Foscarini, Flos, Dainese and many more.

Janson’s early immersion into this world and natural affinity for design, led her to study architecture in Paris, where she earned a masters degree from the École National Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris Belleville ENSAPB.

After graduation, she joined Chaix & Morel et Associés in Paris before her desire to seek inspiration in other cultures and countries saw her embark on extensive travel throughout Europe, Central America and the US. Her global purview and passion for design across time and place has given Janson a broad knowledge of art, and design and international influences continue to be central to her approach today.

Having built on her experience working for architectural and interior design firms in Paris, Janson left France to explore Asia and Australia, before finally settling in Sydney.

As an associate at Studio Johnston, Janson worked on a number of award-winning projects. Prior to setting up Sona Studio in 2015, she also collaborated with Durbach Block Jaggers Architects.
