The pool itself is conceived as a centerpiece retreat: a fully bespoke design integrating a submerged seat, built-in sun bed, and spa, all precisely dimensioned to align with the chosen tile module, resulting in a strikingly ordered yet effortless composition.
Adjacent, a pool pavilion incorporates a ceiling outdoor shower and an undercover entertaining zone with a barbecue and bar fridge. A powder room, change room, and shower—each illuminated by skylights—complete this dedicated leisure wing. Off-form concrete walls, recessed lighting, and timber batten ceilings reinforce a sense of crafted permanence balanced by warmth.
Inside, the kitchen is anchored by a monumental 4.5 x 2 metres quartzite island, a piece of craftsmanship that defines the heart of the home. Expansive skylights transform what was once a dark interior into a luminous gathering space.
Meticulous detailing enhances the sense of refinement: recessed lighting, concealed handles, and slide-away doors that reveal a pantry designed as an unobtrusive extension of the joinery, enhancing spatial clarity and functionality. The living area is grounded by a bespoke fireplace built around a three-sided glazed gas insert. Clad in Japanese Hosowari Border tiles—dark in tone with rough-hewn surfaces and angled edges—it becomes a tactile focal point, striking in both form and finish.
Every threshold—between inside and out, shadow and light, intimacy and openness—is carefully orchestrated. Through material precision and architectural restraint, The Threshold House achieves a balance of discipline and ease, offering its inhabitants a deeply personal retreat.
